Air Conditioning 1991 lude
I was wondering if there was a way to get a Air conditioning charge for a 1991 prelude. I heard they were discontinued and its impossible to get the ac workin unless you bought a whole new ac system. Is there another way to get it workin?

My understanding has always been that you can take the car to an AC shop and get it recharged. I've never done this myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

They told me that the charge was discontinued and they didnt have it. I had to buy a whole new ac which is 500 dollers if i wanted ac. Is there a place online somewhere i could get it?

I'd phone a different shop.
I believe there are even kits available that let you do the recharge at home.

those guys dont sound trustworthy. What they should have told you is that you need to get the system flushed out. The R12 refrigerant is whats discontinued. We now have to switch over to R134a, this is what all cars run on now. You will need to buy the r134a adapter from an auto parts store to recharge the system. I would buy the refrigerant with the dye in it to test the system. If you have a black light, you will be able to see any leaks also.

Is the kit expensive at all, how much to do all this?

Not sure on the price of the kit. Do a quick search around the Internet.
I also think that 91darkness had some good information about finding an adapter for the new refrigerant.

I think you could do all this for around $30? I just got a black light from wal-mart. I would get a small one though if you want to see in tight spaces. I find myself spending more money on everything buy my AC though lol.
