Injectors

Post by 1990whitepreluded »

Has anyone out there used larger injectors to accomplish more power? I know you could not increase them much with a stock setup without flooding the car at idle. Just didn't know if this could be accomplished as a plug and pray app.

People have done this, although I think most of the ones that have had success with this have made changes to their ECU as well. Simple letting more fuel into the engine will confuse the ECU, and you will get the car running rich. This might help power a bit, but you'll have to deal with higher gas consumption and your plugs won't last very long. If you do decide to go with bigger injectors, don't go too big too fast. Fuel metering in a PGM-FI engine is a delicate art, and if you push things too much, you won't get desirable performance out of the engine. Bad starts, poor idle, etc.

Still interested? We can research this further.

Thanks for getting back spiffy....I know how busy life can be. Hey the injectors may not be the way to go.....maybe a future upgrade who knows. However I am getting lots of black buildup on the back bumper which appears to mean I am running rich which may explain some of my performance issues. When i am at WOT the lude punches lots of black smoke out the pipe....

Well I will be on my back for the next 3 weeks after foot surgery so I am sure I will be posting often. Thanks again for the info

Sounds like you are running rich. Are the current injectors the stock size and are they working well? Sounds like your lude must be getting too much fuel. It shouldn't be sprouting off black smoke when you're pushing it. Any hint of blue in that smoke?
